The Synaptic shift
Neuroscience coaching for Neurodivergent
ABOUT ME
I earned my Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience from The Developmental and Brain sciences program at UMass Boston. Behavioral neuroscience is a field of experimental psychology, like developmental health or cognitive psychology (to name a few). I am a psychologist. I am not a licensed therapist. There are many differences between therapy and coaching. Whereas therapists are trained to diagnose and handle early childhood trauma, coaches are typically working with a healthier population and dealing with the here and now. This does not mean that I do not acknowledge the necessity of working through childhood trauma, because that is important, but I want to help you with tools that will help you today and into your future.
No matter what kind of neurodivergent you are, your brain is unique. You may be diagnosed with or suspect you have adhd or autism or ocd, but no two brains are exactly the same. What works to help you with your executive functioning may not work on another with adhd and this is because the neuroscience of adhd is still truly in its infancy. This is an umbrella diagnosis that manifests very differently in each individual and this is how I treat it. I want to get to know your unique brain. We will work to identify your strengths and hone in on them to help you thrive.
